Toujane, Gabès Governorate (TA: Wilāyat Gābis; FR: Gouvernorat de Gabès), Tunisia. February 2024.

Toujane is a small, half-deserted Amazigh mountain village, which is cut by a gorge that leads down to the coastal plain. Its stone houses spread around a hillside and below the ruins of an old kasbah. The flat roofs, made of olive wood, resemble terraces. Locally made carpets have a reputation to be of top quality.

Toujane is said to be photogenic, particularly in the early morning light. Unfortunately, is was a mix of rain and sandstorm when I passed through on the last day of February 2024.
